The Sacked Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Bernard Odoh has refused to obey the directive from the Federal ministry of Education which voided his appointment.
In a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs R G Ilyasu, the Education Ministry voided all appointments made so far by the University, including that of the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar.
The Ministry of Education stated that the University went ahead to appoint a Vice Chancellor without the representative from the ministry.
The letter also stated that the University violated its earlier agreement that no appointment should be carried out by the council without reconciling with the aggrieved parties in the universe community.
But in a swift reaction, the sacked Registrar of the University, Barr Mrs Nwokike rejected the directive from the ministry stating that the suggestion of reconciling aggrieved parties are not relevant.
It is unfortunate what’s happening in UNIZIK over the appointment of the school’s university.
It is confusing how a sacked Registrar could dare the Ministry of Education and issue a counter letter.
A source at the university told AIF Media that “Someone(Barr Mrs Nwokike) that has been sacked lacks locus to write this letter. She’s already guilty of insubordination by signing off as Registrar.”
AIF Media gathered that Prof Bernard Odoh, Emma Ojukwu and Acting DVC held a secret meeting at BON hotel Awka.
It is pertinent that relevant agencies and stakeholders intervene quickly to halt that ongoing leadership crisis in UNIZIK.
