Tiwa Savage declining music career: A case of post-mavin slump

TIWA SAVAGE’S DECLINING MUSIC CAREER: A CASE OF POST-MAVIN SLUMP?

In a scathing critique, a music enthusiast has pointed out that Tiwa Savage, once hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has not released a hit song or album in years. The critic argues that her decline in music fortunes coincided with her decision to part ways with Don Jazzy and Mavin Records in 2019.

According to the critic, Tiwa Savage’s subsequent releases, including “49-99” and “Koroba,” failed to make a significant impact on the music scene. Instead of being praised for their quality, the songs were met with confusion and indifference. The critic notes that when a song is truly good, listeners often overlook its lyrics and focus on its catchiness and rhythm.

The only time Tiwa Savage has generated significant buzz with her music in recent years was when she featured on the remix of Spyro’s “Who’s Your Guy?” in 2023. However, even that collaboration failed to impress the critic, who preferred the original version of the song.

Despite her declining music career, Tiwa Savage can still rely on her past successes to cement her legacy as a trailblazer for female artists in the Afrobeats genre. However, the critic suggests that outside of her legacy, Tiwa Savage has been relying on her physical appearance, fashion sense, and charisma to stay relevant in the entertainment industry.

The critic’s scathing assessment of Tiwa Savage’s music career raises questions about the singer’s ability to adapt to changing musical trends and her decision to part ways with Don Jazzy and Mavin Records. As the music industry continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether Tiwa Savage can reclaim her spot as a leading lady of Afrobeats.

EXCERPT

Just like Wizkid, Tiwa has not released any hit songs/albums in years and ironically, her decline coincided with her decision to part ways with Don Jazzy / Mavin in 2019.

The woman left the producer behind her success and became inspired and inspiring since that moment.

Even her subsequent releases 49-99 and Koroba barely made wave. People were more focused on understanding what she was trying to say rather than how good the songs were.
Generally speaking, if a song is good, people don’t care about the lyrics.

I mean did we know the meaning of “Dorobuci”, or “Zazu”?
We just sang and danced.

Starting from 2019, the only time Tiwa has made a buzz with her music was when she hopped on the remix of “Who’s your guy?” by Spyro in 2023. And that still didn’t do it for me as I prefer the original and didn’t think it needed a remix. Spyro finish work for that track.

Luckily, Ms. Savage has an extremely successful past to look back, so she’ll always be the blueprint for upcoming female artists and “the girl” they need to surpass.

But, outside that, Tiwa has been riding on her looks, fashion, and vibes in the last five years.
We been knew she tired.

So, Tiwa, feel free to go and rest.
