ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN MOTEL HOUSING SEX WORKERS, DRUG PEDDLERS.
The OCHA Brigade has taken a bold step in shutting down Happiness Guest House in Amawbia, Anambra State, after discovering it was being used as a hub for sex workers and drug peddlers. At least 10 sex workers were arrested during the operation, which was carried out by the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra enforcement team.
The decision to shut down the guest house was made after intelligence reports revealed that the illegal activities taking place there were facilitating various crimes, including drug trafficking, underage sex work, and harboring armed robbers. Chief Celestine Anere, the MD/SG of the agency, has vowed to ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted, serving as a deterrent to others who may be engaging in similar activities.
This operation is part of the OCHA Brigade’s efforts to maintain law and order in Anambra State. The brigade has provided several helplines for citizens to report any complaints, inquiries, or submissions, including 07069680112, 08122554530, 08069695398, and 08120356133 ¹.
Similar operations have been carried out in other parts of Nigeria, such as in Lagos State, where the Lagos State Taskforce raided Mosan-Okunola, arresting 43 suspected drug peddlers and shutting down makeshift structures used for drug activities ². The OCHA Brigade’s efforts in Anambra State are a testament to the government’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
