In the statement released on Thursday, Sir. Mmoya admitted that his initial publication, which had circulated online and drew public attention, was made “in a moment of deep frustration and emotional agitation.” He emphasized that it was never his intention to defame or injure the public image of Chief Metuh.

“Chief Metuh, over the years, has built a reputation as a respected political figure and businessman,” Mmoya stated. “I recognize that such a public portrayal—no matter how factual the background—could be misinterpreted as a calculated attempt to damage that reputation. That was never the objective.”

Sir. Mmoya, who had been involved in a business arrangement with Chief Metuh, said the dispute stemmed from a misunderstanding that should have been resolved privately rather than aired in the public space.

“At the heart of the matter was a personal and business misunderstanding that ought to have been resolved through private dialogue and not public airing,” he said. “I acknowledge that taking it to the public, especially in the tone it was presented, was both hasty and inappropriate.”

He further expressed his appreciation for any existing business or social relationship between himself and Chief Metuh, stating that the retraction was issued in good faith and with the hope of rebuilding mutual respect.

“This retraction is made without prejudice, in good faith, and with a strong desire to encourage reconciliation and restore mutual respect between all parties involved,” the businessman noted.

Sir. Mmoya concluded by expressing regret over any embarrassment or distress caused by his earlier comments and took full responsibility for what he described as a “lapse in judgment.”

As at the time of this report, Chief Olisa Metuh has not issued a public response to the retraction.

RETRACTION: A Clarification Regarding My Business Transaction With Chief Olisa Metuh
On reflection and in the spirit of reconciliation, I wish to retract the earlier publication of my business transaction with Chief Olisa Metuh. The publication was done in a moment of deep frustration and emotional agitation, and not with the intent to malign, defame, or diminish the person or public image of Chief Olisa Metuh.
Chief Metuh, over the years, has built a reputation as a respected political figure and businessman, and I recognize that such a public portrayal—no matter how factual the background—could be misinterpreted as a calculated attempt to damage that reputation. That was never the objective.
At the heart of the matter was a personal and business misunderstanding that ought to have been resolved through private dialogue and not public airing. I acknowledge that taking it to the public space, especially in the tone it was presented, was both hasty and inappropriate. It is also important to state that any existing business or social relationships between the parties are valued and were never meant to be jeopardized by the report.
This retraction is made without prejudice, in good faith, and with a strong desire to encourage reconciliation and restore mutual respect between all parties involved.
I regret any distress or embarrassment the initial publication may have caused Chief Metuh and his associates, and I take full responsibility for the lapse in judgment.
Signed,
Kennedy Mmoya
