ANAMBRA POLITICS: PDP Loses Key Members to APGA as Odenigbo Political Vanguard Endorses Soludo

In a shocking turn of events, a group of high-ranking members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State have announced their intention to defect to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and endorse the re-election bid of Governor Charles Soludo.

The group, known as the Odenigbo Political Vanguard, consists of grassroots representatives from various local government areas in the state. According to sources, the group has been secretly meeting with top officials of the APGA-led government in the state, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, and the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu.

Speaking during a preparatory meeting held at the New Orleans Hotel in Awka, the convener of the group, Sir Chukwuma Umeagbala, stated that their decision to endorse Governor Soludo was based on his impressive performance in office, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and economic growth.

“We are tired of playing opposition politics,” said Chief Oforka Uchenu, the leader of the group. “We want to join the mainstream and support the good work of Governor Soludo’s APGA-led government in the state.”

Chief Uchenu, who hails from Anaku in Ayamelum Local Government Area, likened their condition during the past 18 years of playing second fiddle in Anambra politics to that of a football club that is always missing its coveted trophy by slim margins.

Similarly, Iyom Ifeoma Anyaka, a prominent member of the group, emphasized how the remarkable work of Governor Soludo inspired her to join the Odenigbo Political Vanguard, especially considering the wonderful projects Soludo has undertaken in Onitsha, Okpoko, and, most importantly, her hometown, Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, and the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu (Oganiru Anambra), in their respective messages, thanked the group and assured them of ample space in APGA to accommodate them. Meanwhile, Ezeajughi took time to educate them on the agenda of the Governor in the state.

The group plans to hold their mega endorsement rally for Soludo’s second-term election in the near future, believing it will hit the opposition elements in the state like a thunderstorm.

The defection of the Odenigbo Political Vanguard to APGA is seen as a major blow to the PDP in Anambra State, and is expected to boost Governor Soludo’s re-election chances in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

As the political landscape in Anambra State continues to shift, one thing is clear: the defection of the Odenigbo Political Vanguard to APGA is a game-changer that will have far-reaching implications for the state’s politics.

The move is also seen as a testament to Governor Soludo’s leadership style, which has been described as inclusive and people-oriented. The Governor’s commitment to delivering good governance and infrastructure development has clearly resonated with the people of Anambra State, and has earned him the endorsement of key stakeholders like the Odenigbo Political Vanguard.

As the 2024 gubernatorial election approaches, it is clear that Governor Soludo will be a force to be reckoned with. With the support of groups like the Odenigbo Political Vanguard, the Governor is well-positioned to secure a second term in office and continue his good work in Anambra State.

Only time will tell how this development will play out in the long run, but one thing is certain: the defection of the Odenigbo Political Vanguard to APGA is a significant development that will have far-reaching implications for the politics of Anambra State.
