AY’S “THE WAITER” FLOPS IN CINEMAS WHILE YUL EDOCHIE’S “THE MESSIAH” BREAKS RECORDS
A scathing report from ChukwumaNdiogulu has shed light on the disappointing performance of AY’s latest movie, “The Waiter”, in Nigerian cinemas. Despite its star-studded cast, the film failed to attract a significant audience, with attendance numbers reportedly low.
In stark contrast, Yul Edochie’s movie, “The Messiah”, has broken records on YouTube, garnering an impressive 359,000 views in just three days. This feat is all the more remarkable considering Yul Edochie’s relatively modest following on the platform, with only 97,000 subscribers.
ChukwumaNdiogulu’s report highlights the hypocrisy of AY’s fans, who enthusiastically promoted “The Waiter” online but failed to show up in cinemas. The report also suggests that the movie’s poor performance may be attributed to the lack of a strong leading actor, implying that Yul Edochie’s presence in AY’s next project could be a game-changer.
The report’s findings have sparked a lively debate in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many calling for a re-evaluation of the country’s movie marketing strategies. As the dust settles, one thing is clear: Yul Edochie’s “The Messiah” has emerged as a surprise hit, while AY’s “The Waiter” has left many wondering what went wrong.
EXCERPT
Bro AY, I came to report the hypocrisy of your fans, fans of May Edochie and the fans of all the actors you featured in your new movie particularly the fans of May Edochie whom you used her face to promote and project your new movie titled THE WAITER to the public.
Members of AY-MAY tag team championship are very hypocritical. They shout WAITER in the day and then in the night they sleep on YouTube watching every movie the man they so much crush on was featured in.
Bro AY, you know you have over 1.1million subscribers on YouTube while Yul has a meagre 97k followers on same YouTube. It baffles me that your advert about THE WAITER recorded only 92k views in seven days while Yul’s movie titled the The Messiah is recording a record breaking 359k views in just three days.
How can an advert about the much anticipated movie record a paltry 92k views in seven days from a channel with over 1.1million subscribers? You was on Youtube encouraging your followers to visit the nearest cinema on the actual day the movie was showing in various cinemas nationwide but the news we are seeing online suggested that attendance was low even though free tickets were given out.
How can a star studded movie that NEARLY featured president Tinubu and Akpabio in it failed to attract crowd in the cinemas? Where are the Warri Pikin fans, Regina Daniel’s fans, Brain Jotter’s fans, etc?Why were they not at the cinema to watch the movie?
I deployed all tactics at my disposal to stir up people to go and watch the movie in order for the movie to record visible success which would in return pepper Yul and Judy’s fans but to no avail. Instead, the people I used reversed psychology to compelled them to watch your movie were busy watching The Messiah by Yul Edochie.
If the movie “The Messiah” which has only one super actor in the person of Yul Edochie could pull more views than a movie like The Messiah which has the presence of 90% of Nigerian celebrities in it, then it is time to mould Yul’s image and name it THE god OF MOVIES.
It is so sad that there are many movies on the YouTube bearing name ‘The Waiter’ as its title which would make it more difficult for your fans to differentiate between the original and the fake. It is of my opinion that if the movie flop in the cinema, it would definitely not flop on YouTube. But now that so many movie channel owners are renaming their old movie and retitling them ‘The Waiter’, you may no longer record high number of views even if you later upload the movie on your YouTube channel.
Nevertheless, I commend your courage in pushing this movie until it succeed but my humble advise to you is please to feature Yul Edochie in your next movie project. His popularity both on social media and off social media will give you the much needed attendance you need in the cinemas nationwide.
