Fire Outbreak Claims Lives of Elderly Couple
Muhammad Uba, 67, and his wife, Fatima Muhammad, 52, died following a fire outbreak in their home in the Rangaza community, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, on Friday.
Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Kano Fire Service command, stated that the control room received an emergency call at about 01:45am from FS Ahmad Abubakar.
“Crew on duty from Bompai fire station were mobilised to the place where the incident happened and arrived at the scene of incident at about 01:51am.
“When they arrived, they found that the fire had been successfully controlled on the arrival of the brigade,” Abdullahi said.
He added, “Two rooms were engulfed by fire and were completely well alight. Meanwhile, a 67-year-old man named Muhammad Uba and his wife, Fatima Muhammad of about 52 years old, were trapped by the smoke.
“Victims rescued unconscious with burns in some parts of their bodies and later confirmed dead.”
The remains of the deceased were handed over to the ward head, Muhammad Auwalu Rayyanu, while investigations into the cause of the fire continued.
Upon arrival, the fire crew found that the fire had been partially controlled. However, two rooms were completely engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, the elderly couple was trapped by the smoke and suffered severe burns.

Details of the Incident
The fire incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, with the Kano Fire Service command receiving an emergency call at approximately 01:45 am. The fire crew from Bompai fire station promptly responded to the call and arrived at the scene at 01:51 am.

Rescue Efforts
The fire crew rescued the couple, but unfortunately, they were unconscious and later confirmed dead. The remains of the deceased were handed over to the ward head, Muhammad Auwalu Rayyanu.
Cause of the Fire
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. The Kano Fire Service command is working to determine the origin of the fire and prevent similar incidents in the future.
