Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo Attracts Relief Materials for Idemili North and South Residents.
The Honourable member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, has attracted relief materials for the residents of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency.
The distribution of the relief items, which took place at Oye Market Square, Ojoto, on the 14th of December, 2024, was facilitated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
In her speech on behalf of the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, Mrs. Ebere Ugwu noted that, “At the peak of the rainy season this year, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo officially requested relief intervention for members of his constituency who were affected by flood disasters and gully erosion. Following this, the NEMA South East Zone was directed to conduct an on-the-spot assessment to determine the extent of damage and the level of Federal Government assistance required.”
Based on the assessment, the Federal Government approved the following relief items: bags of rice, bags of garri, cartons of vegetable oil, bags of salt, cartons of seasoning cubes, cartons of tomato paste, packs of nylon mats, packs of wax prints (6 yards), packs of guinea brocade (5 yards), packs of women’s clothes, packs of men’s clothes, packs of children’s clothes, packs of sanitary pads, packs of toilet soap, packs of detergents, and packs of diapers.
In his remarks, the Labour Party Chairman of Idemili South, Hon. Edozie Maduabum, extended heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for the relief items on behalf of the party.
Similarly, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo’s constituency aide, Hon. Chibuikem Okoye, appreciated the Federal Government and NEMA for providing the relief items for residents of Idemili North and South. He further noted that Hon. Okonkwo has been a committed advocate for a safe and sustainable health environment.
