Kidnapping on the Rise: Two Young Architects Abducted in Nteje
A disturbing trend of kidnapping for ransom has emerged in Nteje, Anambra State, leaving residents and authorities concerned. The latest incident involves two young architectural graduates from Federal Polytechnic Oko, who were abducted by a group of kidnappers believed to be of Fulani origin.
According to eyewitnesses, the two victims were casually dressed and walking with a friend after completing a work assignment in the area. The kidnappers, who were reportedly on foot, crossed the victims’ path and seized them, marching them into a nearby bush.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N20 million, but later reduced the amount to N3 million. After payment, the victims were released in the dead of night, also on foot.
This incident has sparked widespread concern among residents, who are calling on the authorities to take decisive action to address the growing trend of kidnapping in the area.
The Anambra State Government, led by Governor Charles Soludo, has been urged to take proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of citizens, particularly in areas prone to kidnapping.
As the people of Anambra State look to the government for solutions, one thing is clear: the scourge of kidnapping must be addressed to prevent further incidents and ensure the well-being of all citizens.
