Mr Governor Visits NOCEN

The joy in Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe was immeasurable when His Excellency Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State touched down at the First Gate of the institution on Tuesday 26th November, 2024. Mr Governor was welcomed by the Provost of the College, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu with her management team, other staff of College, students of the Demonstration Schools of the College and a host of others.

Mr Governor was walked through the College, making stops at the Demonstration Schools where he made donations of sports facilities and cash amounts, the College’s Skill Acquisition and School of Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation Complex, the School of Vocational Complex and finally ended up at the College Auditorium, where he was received by staff and students of the College in their large numbers. Other community leaders and members were also in attendance.

In her address, the Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu thanked Mr Governor for finding time to visit the College despite his busy schedules. She quickly intimated His Excellency to the journey of the College so far, stating the institution’s resounding achievements and dire needs. She reminded Mr Governor that Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe being a teacher institution, plays a critical role in the growth and development of the state by producing quality graduates who are now doing well in all walks of life nationally and internationally.

She mentioned few of the numerous laurels won by products of the College particularly the recent 2024 Maltina Teacher of the Year Award and The Presidential Teachers’ and School Excellence Award which saw two products of the College Esomnofu Ifechukwu and Joseph Afamefuna Nwosu respectively clinch victory.

The Provost praised His Excellency for influencing the strides being witnessed in the education sector of the state through his wonderful policies and encouragement. She lauded him for the recent salary bailout he paid to the College and his other achievements in the state. She finally made prayers to His Excellency for the current needs of the College.

In his remarks, His Excellency Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo thanked the Provost and the College Community for having him. He stated that he arrived the College with a sense of nostalgia having taught in the College in the 80s. He said he considers his visit both a homecoming and an inspection tour.

His Excellency acknowledged that the College has been pivotal to the growth and development of the state. He insisted that the only way to predict the future of any society is to look at the quality of teachers and teaching in that society. He thanked the College staff for their work and urged them to tune their efforts to meet up with the digitally changing world and to key into his mantra ” *Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere”.

Responding to the prayers of the Provost, His Excellency noted that there is really need to give the College a *Solution Touch* to really reflect what it represents. He promised that his administration will commence face-lifting of the College immediately.
