Nigeria Bar Association announces co-opted of 150 distinguished members into National Executive Counsil

NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES CO-OPTION OF 150 DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS INTO NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the co-option of 150 distinguished members into the National Executive Council (NEC) for the 2024-2026 term. This decision was made pursuant to Section 8(1)(e) of the NBA Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2021), during the NEC meeting held on November 7, 2024, in Enugu.

According to a statement released by the NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the co-opted members are expected to make significant contributions to the association. The statement reads: “I congratulate all members on their well-deserved appointment and look forward to their impactful contributions to our noble association.”

The co-option of new members into the NEC is a significant development in the NBA, as it brings in fresh perspectives and ideas to the association’s leadership. The NEC is responsible for making important decisions about the association’s policies, programs, and activities.

Unfortunately, the list of co-opted members is not publicly available at this time. However, it is expected that the NBA will release the list in due course.

The NBA has been active in various initiatives in recent times, including the recent 2024 NBA general elections and the NBA Annual General Conference. The association has also been promoting the rule of law and supporting various professional development initiatives for its members.

The co-option of new members into the NEC is expected to further strengthen the association’s leadership and enable it to better serve the interests of its members and the wider legal community.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8(1)(e) of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2021), the National Executive Council (NEC) at its meeting held on 7th of November 2024 in Enugu, approved the co-option of 150
distinguished members of the Association as NEC members for
2024-2026.
