The CEO of OpenAI, developers of ChatGPT has been accused of sexually abusing his younger sister, Annie, in their younger years.
The heartbreaking side is that the entire Altman Family has testified that Annie who’s now 30, has a mental health issue.
According to them, Annie Altman has also accused other men of the same abuse and demands money in return.
Annie claims she became mentally unstable because of Sam Altman’s sexual abuse.
This is a very sensitive matter. You can’t boldly defend Sam against his sister who’s both mentally unstable and allegedly a victim of sexual abuse.
You can’t also support Annie because she has self identified as a mentally unstable woman.
This is why this news should matter to you…
Mental health is a serious matter. Someone can wake up someday and accuse you of something you never did and because they are coherent, everyone will believe them.
I’ve been a victim of mentally challenged people accusing me of something I never did. Recently, a guy claimed I was behind his woes in Enugu Nigeria. I never even met or exchanged messages with him. Another relative claimed I used his destiny to make money – which money?
It’s scary what someone with an overlooked mental illness can do to others.
And no, we can’t conclude that this is a mental health issue. There’s always that uncomfortable “WHAT IF”. Yes, what if Sam Altman did it? What if this turns out true? What if….? What if….? Hence I maintain that this is a sensitive matter which could lead to the removal of Sam Altman as CEO of his AI startup.
I am becoming more aware of managing the mental health of people around me and also protecting mine. I encourage you to look out for early signs of mental health issues in people around you. Signs and symptoms of mental health issues may include:
1. They are always feeling sad or down
2. They are always confused or show reduced ability to concentrate
3. Extreme feelings of guilt
4. Extreme mood changes of highs and lows – they are happy now and unhappy next minute.
5. Withdrawal from friends and activities
6. Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping
7. Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia or hallucinations.
8. Inability to cope with daily problems or stress – they always want to run away from problems.
9. Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people. They are always thinking people want to hurt them.
10. Addicted to alcohol or drugs use.
11. Show major changes in eating habits
12. Sex drive changes – they are either open to more casual sex and sleep with just anyone available or they become sexually withdrawn from their partner.
13. Excessive anger, hostility or violence
14. Suicidal thinking – at this point, they are battling serious depression and total mental breakdown.
Someone doesn’t need to go naked on the street before you know they are mentally unstable – if someone cries a lot or sleeps a lot, you may have a mental health crisis.
While I feel pity by Annie and Sam Altman , I just feel we should use this moment to spread awareness about mental health.
Don’t wait until it gets too bad to seek for help.
