Two women throw acid on 21-year-old woman after accusing her of socialising with men they knew
A 21-year-old woman, Jessie James, is currently undergoing treatment for severe chemical burns after being attacked by two women who accused her of socializing with men they knew. The disturbing incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and has left the local community in shock.
Jessie James, a hairdresser, was initially contacted by one of the attackers, who arranged an appointment for a hair styling session. The woman claimed to be a relative of the person seeking the appointment. However, what appeared to be a routine interaction quickly turned violent when Jessie was led to a secluded area of Belmont, where she was confronted by the two women.
According to Jessie’s aunt, Galia Noel, the two women confronted Jessie with accusations that she had been socializing with men they knew. The situation escalated rapidly, and without warning, the women threw two steaming cups filled with an unknown liquid onto Jessie’s face. The liquid caused severe chemical burns to her skin and eyes. The attackers then fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Jessie, despite the pain and trauma, screamed for help. Two women who were nearby rushed to her aid and helped her get to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Jessie’s condition was described as critical, and she was admitted to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, which included damage to her eyes, lips, and other sensitive areas of her face.
Galia Noel, who spoke to Guardian Media on March 1, 2025, described the injuries sustained by her niece in detail. “The two eyes were affected as well as her lip and the softer parts of her face,” Noel explained. “Her two eyes are bruised on the outside; she can’t open them for too long, but when she does, you can see how the eyes are bulging. They are both very red.”
Noel further revealed that Jessie can see from one eye, though her vision is blurry. The other eye, however, is completely impaired. “She can see in one eye, but it’s a bit fuzzy. She can’t see through the other one at all,” Noel said.
The nature of Jessie’s injuries has raised concerns not only about her physical well-being but also about the long-term psychological impact of the attack.
Galia Noel expressed her disbelief and heartbreak over the attack, describing her niece as a “gentle, soft soul” who did not deserve such brutality. Noel also condemned the attackers, noting that they were hypocritical in their actions. “Whoever did this is a hypocrite because they’re trying to damage another woman. Even if whatever they accused her of is true, they didn’t decide to have a civilized conversation, they attacked her in the most gruesome way because this could have been worse,” she said.
Noel’s comments reflect the shock and emotional toll that the incident has taken on Jessie’s family. The attack, particularly by two women, has raised uncomfortable questions about intra-gender violence and the motives behind such extreme actions.
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the police took a formal statement from Galia Noel regarding the incident. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the attack, but as of yet, the identity of the liquid used in the assault remains unclear. Law enforcement officials are working to track down the two women involved in the attack and bring them to justice.
The incident has also sparked a broader conversation about the prevalence of violence in Trinidad and Tobago, particularly violence against women. This attack has been described as particularly disturbing because it was carried out by women, highlighting the complex dynamics of female-on-female violence and the potential for jealousy and rivalry to escalate into life-threatening situations.
Locals in the area have expressed their shock and outrage over the attack. Many have taken to social media to condemn the actions of the two women and express their support for Jessie. The attack has ignited debates about the importance of addressing gender-based violence and the need for better conflict resolution methods, particularly in cases where individuals feel slighted or wronged by others.
As the investigation unfolds, Jessie’s family and the public are calling for justice and for those responsible for the attack to be held accountable for their actions. For now, Jessie remains hospitalized, with her family and community rallying around her as she faces the difficult road to recovery.
The acid attack on Jessie James serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked anger and the severe consequences of violence. In a society where personal conflicts can often lead to destructive outcomes, it is imperative that conversations about respect, empathy, and peaceful conflict resolution are prioritized.
As the investigation continues, Jessie’s family hopes that justice will prevail and that the perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice. In the meantime, the community stands united in support of Jessie, as she faces the physical and emotional scars of this violent attack.

During the altercation, the women accused James of speaking with men they knew and threw two steaming cups containing an unknown liquid on her. They then ran off.
Noel said she was told by her niece that she screamed for help and was assisted by two women who took her to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she remained up until yesterday.
Noel said she was deeply hurt by the incident, describing her niece as a “gentle, soft soul” who did not deserve such violence.
“The two eyes were affected as well as her lip and the softer parts of her face,” she said.
“Her two eyes are bruised on the outside, she can’t open them for too long, but when she does, you can see how the eyes are bulging, they are both very red.
“She can see in one eye but it’s a bit fuzzy, but she can’t see through the other one at all.”
Noel said she was deeply disappointed that women would perpetrate such a vicious attack on another woman.
“Whoever did this is a hypocrite because they’re trying to damage another woman. Even if whatever they accused her of is true, they didn’t decide to have a civilised conversation, they attacked her in the most gruesome way because this could have been worse.”
Noel said police took a statement from her on Thursday afternoon.
