A New Era for the Body of Benchers of Nigeria

On Friday, a significant milestone was marked in Abuja as the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex of the Body of Benchers of Nigeria officially commenced. Nyeson wike was honored to be decorated with the insignia of the Body of Benchers and presented a plague by the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria and Vice Chairman, Body of Benchers of Nigeria, Justice Ariwoola.

This recognition is a testament to the contributions he has made to the legal profession, and he is grateful to the Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), and other respected members of the Body of Benchers for this distinction.

As the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike is committed to promoting the legal profession and upholding the principles of justice and fairness. He appreciate President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of our great nation.

The Body of Benchers: A Pillar of the Legal Profession

The Body of Benchers is a statutory body established by the Legal Practitioners Act, 1962 (as amended). Its primary functions include the formal call to the Bar of persons desirous of becoming Legal Practitioners, as well as the discipline of erring lawyers in Nigeria.

The Body of Benchers plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and standards of the legal profession. Its members are distinguished lawyers and judges who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the profession.

Wike’s Journey in Public Service

As a seasoned politician and lawyer, Wike have had the privilege of serving in various capacities. His journey in public service began as the Executive Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, a position he held from 1999 to 2007.

He later served as the Minister of State for Education and Acting Minister of Education under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. In 2015, he was elected as the Governor of Rivers State, a position he held until 2023.

A Commitment to Excellence

As he ( Wike ) embark on this new chapter in his career, he is committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity. He believe that public service is a sacred trust, and he is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.

In conclusion, Nyeson Wike honored to have been recognized by the Body of Benchers of Nigeria, and he look forward to continuing to serve our great nation with distinction and integrity, Wike said.

On Friday, at the flag-off of the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex of the Body of Benchers of Nigeria in Abuja, I was decorated with the insignia of the Body of Benchers and presented a plague by the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria and Vice Chairman, Body of Benchers of Nigeria, Justice Ariwoola, to commemorate the official flag-off of the construction exercise.

I feel so honored to be so decorated by the immediate past CJN and I thank the Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) and other respected members of the Body of Benchers.

For us, we will continue to do our best to promote the legal profession and I appreciate our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this opportunity to serve.
