A civil society organisation, Democracy For Empowerment, says it’s thrilled by the masses – focused manifesto of the Nicholas Ukachukwu – Uche Ekwunife ticket in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election.
Democracy For Empowerment said it had studied the manifestoes of the major political parties and candidates contesting the election and found that of APC’s Ukachukwu the “most people welfare – oriented.”
In a statement released in Enugu on Monday, September 22, 2025, the non governmental organisation, praised the Ukachukwu – Ekwunife ticket’s blueprint for “connection to socio – economic uplifting programmes.”
The statement jointly signed by the President, Hon Nduka Ugboko and Secretary, Lady Cinderella Ezieke, said the Wind of Glory document stood out by the emphasis on core areas of development.
“We are impressed by the prominence given to agriculture, industries, education, health, housing and roads. These are the development chains that spur prosperity and wealth distribution.”
“Then, we find the specifics of the manifesto commendable. For instance, agriculture can be pinned down to kibbutz farming settlements, agro – allied factories in Mbosi, Osumoghu, Lilu. Road construction is defined in 2000 kilometres of road every year, pedestrian walkway and cyclist lines. The same level of precision runs through the other sectors.”
The organisation explained that it’s concern with the content of the manifestoes was in the interest of democracy and democratic dividends.
“It serves the interest of the people when clarity surrounds the social contract. That’s why we’re delighted with the Ukachukwu – Ekwunife manifesto. They’re spelt out in measurable and verifiable terms. The electorate can easily hold leaders to account that way.”
Democracy For Empowerment said Ukachukwu’s deviation from the “path of high – sounding projections that eventually turn out white elephant projects” deserved recognition, to encourage politicians running for office to be practical.
