The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to help locate the parents or guardians of a 10-year-old boy, identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, who reportedly lost his way home after going out to play in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when the young boy reportedly left home to play but later became unable to find his way back or identify the location of his family.
According to the police, the child was found wandering around the area by a concerned resident who decided to take him to the Okpoko Police Division for assistance.
Preliminary interaction with the boy revealed that he was unable to provide directions to his home or establish contact with his family members. He, however, disclosed that he is originally from Ebenebe in Anambra State.
Following the discovery, officers at the Okpoko Police Division commenced efforts to identify and locate his parents or guardians to ensure that he is safely reunited with his family.
The police command said it was seeking the cooperation of residents and other members of the public who might have useful information about the boy or his family.
Anyone who recognises the child or has information that could help establish the identity and whereabouts of his parents or guardians has been urged to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
The command emphasised the importance of public cooperation in ensuring the child’s safe return to his family.
Residents, particularly those in Ebenebe and surrounding communities, are encouraged to share the information with people who may know the boy or his relatives.
The police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding how the child became separated from his family. Their immediate priority remains establishing contact with his parents or guardians and ensuring his safe reunion with them.
