In a dramatic turn of events, Finnish authorities have frozen the assets of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Biafran agitator accused of terrorism-related activities. Ekpa, who has been in detention for several weeks, is being held in the notorious Kylmäkoski prison, located in Akaa, Finland .

The Finnish government has also seized assets linked to companies associated with Ekpa and four of his alleged accomplices, who are also in custody. Ekpa was arrested about four weeks ago alongside four others on suspicion of terrorism-related offences, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.

Kylmäkoski Prison: One of the World’s Toughest Detention Facilities

Kylmäkoski prison, where Ekpa is being held, is known for its stringent security measures and harsh conditions. The prison, built in 1993, is designed to house male prisoners who have committed violent crimes, including sex offenders and other high-risk detainees .

Ekpa’s Alleged Crimes and Controvers

Ekpa, who identifies himself as the “Prime Minister” of the Biafra Republic Government-in-Exile, has been accused of using social media platforms to incite violence in Nigeria’s South-East region, specifically targeting civilians and government officials. Finnish authorities have stated that his alleged activities, including calls for violence and terrorism financing, were carried out using online platforms, which played a key role in his arrest and the subsequent freezing of his assets .

The case has drawn significant attention, especially in Nigeria, where Ekpa has been a controversial figure linked to calls for separatist activities.

Finnish authorities have frozen the assets of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Biafran agitator accused of terrorism-related activities, who has been in detention for several weeks.

The government also seized assets linked to companies associated with Ekpa and four of his alleged accomplices, who are also in custody.

According to Yle, a Finnish news outlet, Ekpa is being held in Kylmäkoski prison, located in Akaa, Finland, and known as one of the world’s strictest detention facilities.

It would be recalled that Ekpa was arrested about four weeks ago alongside four others on suspicion of terrorism-related offences, including incitement to vi%lence and financing t€rrorism.
