The phrase “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” was popularized by American politician and businessman, Mr. Bert Lance, in the 1970s, although he didn’t originate the term. He used it to argue against unnecessary government overhauls, believing that the focus should be on fixing what is truly broken, rather than implementing costly changes to systems that are already functioning.

Mr. Bert Lance, was an economic advisor to President Jimmy Carter and Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He promoted the phrase as a motto for governmental efficiency.

Hence, he said it to caution against wastefulness, because Lance, believed that fixing things that aren’t broken is a waste of resources and effort, rather, focus on existing problems. He advocated for prioritizing the repair of systems and processes that are genuinely malfunctioning or inefficient, and called for practicality: The phrase encourages a pragmatic approach, suggesting that if something is working well, there is no need to change it for the sake of change.

But in Nigeria, Anambra State precisely, it became a different ball game, as the phrase was re-phrased to a mantra “If not broken, while mend it” and was further used as one of the numerous deceitful statements and propaganda orchestrated by the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in lieu to curry favour, from his predecessor, prior to his re-election bid in 2016/2017 of the immediate past Governor, Chief Willie Mmaduaboruchukwu Obiano (Akpokue-Dike Aguleri), which i believe we know the rest story.

In view of the above caption, anyone who has gone through the Soludo/Ibezim/APGA’s September, 2021 electioneering campaign manifesto, will agree with me that not up to 25% of their campaign promises has been neither kept, fulfilled nor implemented as promised, despite their four years term stirring them in the face, which will soon elapsed and envelope them.

Firstly, Soludo/Ibezim/APGA, has failed (F9) and broken their manifesto promises, tagged: “THE SOLUDO SOLUTION, A PEOPLE’S MANIFESTO FOR A GREATER ANAMBRA”, as promised Ndi Anambra a sustainable and inclusive wealth creation with jobs, jobs and jobs with a target of at least, 100,000 private sector jobs per annum for the youths and 1000 youths millionaire per annum in the medium term.

Secondly, they have failed (F9) as promised in their manifesto, to repositioned Anambra State as a center of excellence through human capital development and proactively leapfrog our youth/student as Africa’s digital tribe, actively ensure planned Cities, Communities and Markets and a more substianable clean, green and liveable environment (Homeland), and mainstreaming of the core Igbo values of integrity, hard-work, competition, compassion and morality.

Finally, Soludo has failed (F9) in his contract with Ndi Anambra, looking at the “African Dubai Taiwan” slogan namely: economic transformation/Enablers, infrastructure, social agendas, governance, rule of law, value system, funding and implementation.
