Umuada Allegedly Ishiagu Report Man Accused of Beating Wife to Traditional Ruler, The The Traditional Ruler Hands Him Over to Umuada; Umuada Parade Him in Wheelbarrow

A social media post alleging that a group of women known as Umuada Ishiagu placed a man in a wheelbarrow and paraded him around their community in Ebonyi State has generated reactions online, with questions being raised about whether the incident actually happened.
The story, reportedly shared by a Facebook blog, claims that the incident occurred in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, after the man was accused of repeatedly assaulting his wife despite several warnings.
According to the circulating account, the women allegedly intervened after reports that the man had beaten his wife and destroyed goods in her shop during a disagreement. The post further claims that the Umuada took the matter to the traditional ruler, who reportedly handed the man over to the women.
The women were then alleged to have placed him inside a labourer’s wheelbarrow and paraded him along major roads in the community as a form of public reprimand over the alleged abuse.
However, the authenticity of the story remains uncertain.
In a post shared with the Ishiagu Political Voices Facebook group, the group’s administrator, Udeh Ifeanyi Makwe, questioned whether the incident was genuine or another case of misinformation circulating on social media.
Makwe expressed concern that the story had been widely shared despite the absence of reports from major Nigerian newspaper platforms.
The administrator also suggested that the incident could be a joke that had gone too far, warning against presenting an unverified social media account as an established fact.
While the circulating post portrays the alleged action of the women as a demonstration of solidarity against domestic violence, there has been no independent confirmation of the reported parade or the circumstances surrounding it.
GEENCEE therefore urged members of the public to establish whether the story was true or fake before sharing it further.
